Dems vs. Repubs

U.S. President Barack Obama

The war in Washington between the Democrats and the Republicans is getting scary again, like Madonna without makeup.

America’s two main political parties are virulently fighting each other, even going as far as shutting off lights in meetings out of disgust and locking the opposition out of hearings for allegedly behaving like children.

They are also duking it out in the polls and fundraising, with Congressional infighting reaching new highs.

As Rodney King said “Can’t we all just get along.” Of course not. It’s politics. The so-called power struggle and party affiliations often carries more influence than seeking what’s best for a nation.

The Obamas 17th Anniversary

The Obamas going into restaurant to celebrate their anniversary

U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary this past weekend, by going for a romantic dinner at a Washington, DC restaurant.

No word if the President's successful date extended into he night at the White House, to round off the celebratory event.

Side Bar: it was just an observation and don't pretend I'm the only one that noticed him smirking at her just as they were headed home from the restaurant:

The Two Million March

Conservatives Turn Off Fox News And Hit The Road For Protests

U.S. President Barack Obama

According to some press outlets, an estimated two million conservatives marched on Washington, angry over the spending that has accompanied the Obama administration.

The health care issue has really divided the American people, who are concerned regarding its costs and how much it will add to the already soaring national deficit, former President Bush left behind.

The turnout for the organized march took many by surprise, as most did not expect the sheer number of people that traveled to the nation's capital for the protest.

Crowd management became difficult for the police, as they were caught unprepared for an event that was not given much publicity or forewarning.

However, the successful march was not unlawful, as Americans are guaranteed the right to freedom of assembly. President Obama is also a big boy and as such, would understand what comes with the territory when one becomes a politician.

To illustrate the contrasting point of view in this dispute, the Obama administration contends, many do not understand the breadth of his health care plans, which are being pushed as items that are more reformative than financially costly.

Obama To Vacation In Martha’s Vineyard

Trouble Brews In Washington

The Obamas

U.S. President Barack Obama and his family, are scheduled to vacation in Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts next week.

The past week has been racked with problems regarding health care and the controversial public option.

The GOP has declared victory, regarding opposing Obama’s health care initiatives, they refer to as wasteful, but some believe they "misunderestimate" his "strategery" (Yes, that was a Bushism).

Holiday unlikely to be restful for President Obama

Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:09am EDT - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - His healthcare reform plan is stumbling, the economy is still sputtering and violence is up in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who wouldn't want a break?

President Barack Obama is officially taking one next week when he heads to Martha's Vineyard. But his long "to do" list -- two wars, worldwide recession and a host of legislative battles in store when he gets back, most notably the struggle over reforming the U.S. health system -- will make it hard for him to relax and disconnect.

Obama is the best salesman for healthcare reform, economic stimulus and other domestic agenda items, and his absence could hurt, analysts said...

Some critics have questioned whether the president should take a vacation at all, especially given the country's stubborn economic problems and the vehemence of opposition to the $1 trillion healthcare plan.

Others have slammed him for heading to a Massachusetts resort island known as a haven for the rich and famous...
