Obama Blamed For Gay Marriage Defeat

Video: Maine voters shot down gay marriage - KXAN.com

U.S. President Barack Obama has been blamed for the defeat of a gay marriage law in Maine. How you ask? Gay rights activists claim Obama, who recently signed legislation into law to protect homosexuals, didn't do enough. Are they serious.

One would think the currently prevailing liberal theme in political circles in Washington, would have helped, but the people, also known as the voters, have spoken and they do not want gay marriage.

U.S. President Barack Obama

The Judiciary Report is not in favor of gay marriage anywhere. Gay marriage is a bid at turning society upside down to suit someone's personal sexual choices. The Bible clearly notes marriage is between a man and a woman. Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

Furthermore, why do gays want to marry each other. The rate of domestic violence, dysfunction, suicide and depression is highest in gay relationships.

Gay leaders blame TV ads, Obama for loss in Maine

SAN FRANCISCO — Stunned and angry, national gay rights leaders Wednesday blamed scare-mongering ads — and President Barack Obama's lack of engagement — for a bitter election setback in Maine that could alter the dynamics for both sides in the gay-marriage debate.

Conservatives, in contrast, celebrated Maine voters' rejection of a law that would have allowed gay couples to wed, depicting it as a warning shot that should deter politicians in other states from pushing for same-sex marriage.

"Every time the citizens have voted on marriage, they have always sided with natural marriage," said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, a Florida-based Christian legal group. "Maine dramatically illustrates the will of the people, and politicians should wake up and listen."

Gay activists were frustrated that Obama, who insists he staunchly supports their overall civil rights agenda, didn't speak out forcefully in defense of Maine's marriage law before Tuesday's referendum. The law was repealed in a vote of 53 percent to 47 percent.

"President Obama missed an opportunity to state his position against these discriminatory attacks with the clarity and moral imperative that would have helped in this close fight," said Evan Wolfson of the national advocacy group Freedom to Marry. "The anti-gay forces are throwing millions of dollars into various unsubtle ads aimed at scaring people, so subtle statements from the White House are not enough."

The White House, asked about the criticism, had no immediate comment...

Public Service

Video: MPs face ban on employing relatives' - ITN NEWS

Being in public service is a privilege, but it does not mean one is to behave as though one is privileged. Squandering, misusing or misappropriating tax dollars is a betrayal of public trust.

Scandals have erupted in just about every world government, regarding missing, wasted or misappropriated funds. For example, in America, there was the FBI computer system scandal, where many millions went missing and to this day is still unaccounted for, presumed to be stolen, as it has been filed under the label "miscellaneous" with no product or service to show for it.

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller blew several hundred million in taxpayer money

In the United Kingdom, the ongoing MP (Member of Parliament) scandal saw off over a dozen government officials that incensed the public via claiming inflated personal expenses generally not allowed under the law.

In Jamaica, a government official used taxpayer money to renovate a home designated for people in his capacity that was already in good condition, as it was previously updated, angering the Jamaican public, as the money could have been used to build a school or repair roads.

Jacqui Smith was caught up in the MP spending scandal in Britain

Government employees all over the world should endeavor to give the public the greatest value for their tax dollars. If one is not willing to sacrifice and accept reasonable remuneration for one's services as a public servant, one should seek employment in the private sector.

Governments Bribing The Taliban

A disturbing report was published, claiming world governments have been bribing the Taliban in the hope they will behave and desist with committing acts of terror.

It appears they mean well in trying to calm the situation via monetary gifts, but is that really wise. It might only serve to whet their appetite for more money, deeming their unruly, uncivil conduct leverage to gain riches and influences.

Furthermore, what if they use the funds to commit additional acts of terror. Buyer beware.

Payments to Taliban widespread

October 17, 2009 - NATO officially denies that any of its members pay insurgents in Afghanistan for peace, but military sources said yesterday the practice is widespread among foreign forces fighting the Taliban.

The Times newspaper said 10 French troops killed in Sarobi, near Kabul, last year had not properly assessed the risks, because their Italian predecessors failed to inform them they had paid the Taliban not to attack them...

The British SIS Is Hiring

http://www.sis.gov.uk/output/virtualtour/index.html

A UK newspaper ran a prominent article, regarding an SIS employment drive for British citizens (Secret Intelligence Service).

While, I've never wanted to be a spy, but due to my family's history of working in politics and government, such articles always catch my eye. The SIS's virtual tour is even covert, saying a lot, while saying so little.

The British SIS is a very private government group, committed to protecting the United Kingdom, as is MI5 and MI6.

Protecting and serving one's nation is admirable, but I must concede, such jobs must be difficult at times, due to the inability to share the nature of one's work with family and friends. It's just as well, as it would endanger them, making them a target for criminals.
